Biography[]
Sister Canace is one of the faithful few remaining on the Ninth House before the Emperor’s summons of Harrowhark Nonagesimus. In her role as a nun, Canace supervises Ninth House denizens, including a young Gideon Nav, on oss duty. She likely maintains this position of authority during the Ninth House’s influx of new penitents from the Emperor’s renewal of their house.
During the plague of devils on the Ninth House, Sister Canace survives the initial attack. When the survivors barricade themselves behind the Anastasian monument, she is posted as a sentry, along with Deacon Davith. She disappears from her post some time later. It is unknown whether she fled or she was attacked.
Appearance and Personality[]
Sister Canace is not described in detail, but she might be assumed to be old and decrepit, with bad knees. As a nun of the Ninth House, her attire would include a large black robe and black and white face paint resembling a skull.
Crux describes Canace as loyal, and Aiglamene confirms that “Sister Canace is not the type to abandon [her] post.”[1]
